Our plans for a new Leighton Hospital can only happen if we listen to the people.
That is why we spend time talking to local communities. We attend events, run information sessions, and meet with people and organisations from different backgrounds.
These conversations give staff, patients, service users, and local people the chance to hear directly from us, share their views, and help shape our plans.
During the second half of 2025/26, the Healthier Futures team spoke with around 2,000 people.
We heard three main messages:
-
People support our vision for a new hospital. They like the idea of a modern hospital with digital technology, all single ensuite rooms, and health and care services working together. However, many people are not yet clear about how services will change and how new ways of working will help make this vision a reality.
-
Some people think the new hospital will be a direct replacement for the current one. This means they often compare plans using today's way of working, such as the number of beds, staff, and rooms. Many people want to understand more about how services could be delivered in different and better ways in the future.
-
Many people see digital technology as a positive step forward. However, some people are worried that not everyone will be able to access or use digital services easily.
Watch the video below to find out more about what people told us, and the actions we have taken in response.
